At My Companion Band, owned and operated by JDF Innovations, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect the information you provide when using our wearable device (the “My Companion Band”) and the associated mobile application (the “My Companion Band App”), available on iOS and Android devices. We continually evaluate our privacy practices to align them with applicable privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). By using our App, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
When you use My Companion Band and its services, JDF Innovations may collect the following types of information:
a) Personal Information
- Registration Information: When you create an account with My Companion Band, we may ask for personal details such as your name, email address, phone number, and payment information (if applicable).
- Device Information: We collect information about the mobile device you use to access the App, including device type, operating system, version, and unique device identifiers (e.g., UUID or IMEI).
The My Companion Band wearable device collects specific types of data necessary for providing health and safety features. This data is synchronized with the My Companion Band App to deliver relevant insights and alerts. The data which JDF Innovations collects includes:
b) Step Data
- The My Companion Band tracks the number of steps you take throughout the day to help you monitor your physical activity levels.
c) Sleep and Wake Times
- The wearable device tracks your sleep patterns, including the times you fall asleep and wake up. This helps to provide insights into your sleep quality.
d) Fall Detection Data
- The wearable device includes accelerometers and gyroscopes that detect falls. If a fall is detected, an alert is triggered and sent to the My Companion Band App for review.
- The fall detection feature is designed to send an alert only to the app. No information is shared with third parties, including emergency contacts or other services.
e) Non-Movement Data
The wearable device monitors periods of inactivity or non-movement. This data may be used to send alerts that the device is not worn or if a user hasn’t moved in an abnormally long time
3. How We Share Your Information
Our business model is to provide highly valuable product experiences and services to our members in exchange for membership fees. As such, we never sell our members’ personal data. This is our promise. Because of how broadly the CCPA defines “sale,” we want to be clear that we use third party cookies and other tracking technologies.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data collected from the My Companion Band wearable device is transmitted securely to the My Companion Band App via Wi-FI. The data is stored on your mobile device and within the app, where it is protected with encryption.
We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard security measures to protect it. These measures include:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between the wearable device and the My Companion Band App is encrypted.
- Device Security: Your data is stored securely on your mobile device, and access is protected by your device’s security features (e.g., password, fingerprint, or face recognition).
- Data Access: Only you have access to your personal data through the My Companion Band App. We do not grant third parties access to your personal data.
We do not store or process your data on external servers or share it with any third-party services. All data remains local to your device and is accessible only through your personal My Companion Band App account.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. If you wish to delete your account or request that we stop processing your data, you can contact us directly at [email protected]
6. Your Rights and Choices

- Access: You can request access to the personal information we hold about you.

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information as soon as possible.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or via email. Please review this policy periodically for any updates.

Definitions
CCPA
The California Consumer Privacy Act, or CCPA, is a state law that provides California consumers with robust data privacy rights. These rights include the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt-out of “sale” of personal information that businesses collect, as well as additional protections for minors. A “sale” under the CCPA is defined as “selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating orally, in writing, or by electronic or other means, a consumer’s personal information by the business to another business
COOKIES
Cookies are small files which are stored on a user’s computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular user and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the user computer. This allows the server to deliver a page tailored to a particular user, or the page itself can contain some script which is aware of the data in the cookie and is therefore able to carry information from one visit to the website (or related site) to the next.
GDPR
The General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, is a data privacy and security regulation under European law that sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information from individuals who live in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and United Kingdom (collectively, “Europe” or “European”). The GDPR provides data protection rights to European residents and applies to any organization that offers goods or services to individuals in Europe, even if that organization is not based in Europe.
IP ADDRESS
An IP Address is a unique address that identifies a device on the internet or a local network. It allows a system to be recognized by other systems connected via the internet protocol. An IP Address may be considered Personal Data and is at times used by advertisers to serve interest-based ads.
